Our Local GrACE Committees are a vital component of GrACE. These committees help others recognized the importance and value of Catholic Education.
Purpose: Established in every Catholic School District, local GrACE committees celebrate, advocate, and communicate the value of Catholic education. They also engage parishes to support Catholic education beyond school.
Involvement: Everyone—parents, parishioners, teachers, or community members—is encouraged to join. These grassroots groups are essential for ensuring a strong, unified voice for Catholic education.
This tab will include information and initiatives showing some of the things important to our Local Committees or to highlight some of the things they have done or are involved in.

Renewing the Mission of Catholic Education in Alberta
In 2025, GrACE (Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education) conducted a province-wide survey to better understand the strengths, needs, and future direction of Catholic education advocacy across Alberta. Trustees, parents, superintendents, clergy, and local leaders shared their insights through formal surveys, focus groups, and community forums.
The call to action was unmistakable:
Catholic education will not thrive by chance — it will thrive by choice.
GrACE, ACSTA, and CCSSA will now support a shared roadmap for mission-aligned advocacy:
Priorities:
Stronger Committees:
Leadership support, committee frameworks, local training
Evangelization Toolkit:
Shared messaging, printable resources, storytelling templates
Trustee & Superintendent Support: Mentoring programs, collaboration tools
Youth Engagement: Student leadership initiatives, parish-school bridges
Digital Advocacy: Website content, social media strategy, local resource hubs
1. Committee Leadership Breakdown
26% – Trustee-led
22% – Trustee & Admin Partnerships
22% – Mixed Leadership
13% – Parent-led
11% – No formal committee
Observation: While trustee leadership is strong, parental engagement and parish collaboration need intentional strengthening.
2. Challenges Identified by Committees
Difficulty engaging parents and parishioners
Unclear understanding of ACSTA and CCSSA roles
Competing time commitments
Fatigue and waning interest
Limited parish–school partnership efforts
Conclusion: Committees need support, clarity, and energy to sustain and grow their mission.
3. Resources Committees Say They Need Most
Templates for prayer, meetings, activities (88%)
Toolkits for starting new committees
Clear communication and reporting guidelines
Structured advocacy support from ACSTA/CCSSA
Practical success stories from other districts
Key Insight: Committees are ready to grow but need the tools to do so effectively.
GrACE is more than a movement. It's a mission.
And every Catholic — every parent, teacher, trustee, and parishioner — is called to it.
